Cozy Coffee Wear - Crocheted Slippers
What’s a pair of slippers doing on a coffee blog? These are the slippers I made while drinking my morning coffee the other day - how’s that for a stretch to make the picture relevant to my blog?
Seriously, though - I ran across the pattern for these slippers over at Thrifty Creativity Thursday morning. My daughter just happened to be looking over my shoulder while I was surfing and she stopped me there to look at them and go on about how cute they are. She crochets - so I pointed out that the pattern was right there and she responded “I can’t follow those things!!”
Well, that was a teachable moment just crying out to be used, so I did what any self-respecting mom would do. I grabbed a crochet hook to demonstrate and sure enough, she did exactly what I expected her to do. She scooted to her bedroom and came back with a ball of yarn and crochet hook to try it along with me.
Two hours (and one coffee pot) later, we had two comfy pairs of slippers and a lovely shared morning - and trust me, now that she’s 19, those lovely shared mornings are few and far between. I dropped by Thrifty Creativity to say thanks - and Karen wrote me to ask for pictures - which she posted on her blog this morning.
So there we have it. I’m enjoying my morning coffee this morning wearing a pair of cozy slippers I made for myself, watching the snow pile up outside and contemplating how lovely it will be to get my next shipment of green coffee beans later this week.

- The Emotional Flower’s CryIn modern times, people have sought ways to cultivate, buy, wear, or otherwise be around flowers and blooming plants, partly because of their agreeable appearance and smell. Around the world, people use flowers for a wide range

They really are just as warm and cozy as they look, and they really really did only take two hours to make. If you decide that you do want to learn crochet, definitely check out grandmaspatternbook.com!
Oh I need some of those. We have such cold tile floors. I bet they would keep my feet from drying out. Two hours? Where do I send the yarn?
I love them! And how fun that you and your daughter made them together!
How cute!
Those slippers are great. Mother and daughter times spent like that are special, aren’t they? My daughter said the other day that we’re not spending as much time together as we used to, now that she has started school, so I’m setting aside some time everyday after school for us to do an activity together. I’ll treasure those times, because, as you say, I’m sure they are few and far between when your daughter reaches 19!
