Fresh-Brewed Coffee News
Happening in the world of coffee:
Back a few months ago, a Maine coffee shop made national headlines when it decided to go topless - no, not the shop- the servers. It may be the only topless coffee shop in the nation - or at least, it was until a few nights ago when arsonists torched the shop. The arson also left the owner of the shop, his two daughters, their boyfriends and their 4 month old infant children homeless because they lived in a house attached to the shop. I’ve gotta say that I just don’t get that kind of hatefulness.
Meanwhile, in SoCal, bikini coffee bars - or something like them - are thriving. There are 50-60 coffee shops where coffee drinks are served by waitresses in bikinis, thongs, lingerie and 6-inch heels. These are not your local coffee bar - not with banks of wide-screen televisions and hoochie-girls bringing you lattes and Vietnamese iced coffee. I just wanna know where I can go to savor my coffee while enjoying a foot-rub delivered by a hot hunk.
And in Japan, Starbucks is selling coffee jelly - Jello to us here in the U.S. - to rave reviews. Frappuccino jello desserts cost about 460 yen - about $5 USD. You can make your own for a whole lot cheaper - I even posted a recipe for coffee jello dessert back during my Countdown to Valentine’s Day.

Bah! Why spend $5 for a cup of coffee jello when you can make your own for about a quarter? It’s so easy - just get a package of Knox unflavored gelatin, sprinkle it on 1/4 cup of water, then add 1 3/4 cups of strong, sweetened brewed coffee and put it in the fridge. Top it with whipped cream - incredibly flavorful!
Crazy. Misogyny continues to prevail, eh? I’m all for the foot maggase regardless of gender. Happy weekend, Deb!
I don’t think I would be able to read my schoolbooks if I had a hot shirtless guy bringing me my latte.
